A LaPorte man is facing two counts of Domestic Battery after an alleged incident with his wife on Sunday.

Robert Larue stood up and placed his hands behind his back when he saw LaPorte City Police arrive at his apartment complex. Police were baffled and questioned Larue of his actions.

Larue reportedly told police that he drank heavily the night before and “messed up his wife pretty bad”. He could not recall what happened.

The victim told police that Larue had been drinking, became upset and battered her. He reportedly struck her in the face multiple times until she blacked out. The victim explained that she woke up on the floor the next day and did not recall being battered until she looked in the mirror. She then called police.

A 3-year-old child was on the couch next to her when the battery reportedly happened.

Officers saw extensive facial injuries on the victim who assured officers she would seek medical treatment.

Larue’s Domestic Battery charges were elevated to a Class D felony due to a prior conviction and because the alleged battery occurred in the presence of a child.
