Hamlet Man Arrested on a Warrant for Fraud

A Hamlet man was served with an arrest warrant in a case involving fraud, but he was already incarcerated in the LaPorte County Jail when the warrant was served.

John King, 19 of Hamlet was wanted on a charge of fraud after he and a female suspect had allegedly stolen money out of the account of an acquaintance of the female suspect in LaPorte. That money was reportedly used to buy drugs.

The female suspect had taken an ATM card from a man with whom she would stay on occasion. She had taken the card from him during a short ride in his vehicle. The female suspect allegedly admitted to police that she withdrew $105.50 and then King reportedly withdrew $202.50.

King remains in the LaPorte County Jail. This case remains under investigation with the LaPorte City Police Department.
