Bass Lake Festival Adds Several New Events

This year’s Bass Lake Festival offers a mix of familiar attractions and new activities to showcase the theme “Livin’ the Good Life.” The 5K Run/Walk gets things started this morning at 7:30, departing from the Lions Building on the east side of the lake. The always popular car show returns this year as well at Terry White’s house on State Road 10 near the beach. It’s scheduled today from 8 until 3, but in the event of rain will move to tomorrow.

New this year are the Bass Lake Walk, which starts at Sportyz at 8 a.m. and hovercraft rides all day and at dusk at the beach. The photography and build-a-boat contests both run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon at the Bass Lake Property Owners Association building. The water volleyball tournament starts at 10 at The Shore Club, and the Sailboat Races get under way at 11. Later this afternoon don’t miss the cardboard boat race, which starts at 3. In the event of rain, it will take place Sunday morning at 10:30. Enjoy Frank’s Bluegrass and BBQ Saturday afternoon, and be sure to shop the lake-wide garage and rummage sales all day. The fishing derby wraps up at 4. Finish off a fun-filled afternoon with the ice cream eating contest at Fingerhut Bakery at 4:30, followed by the family oriented Bass Lake Bash from 6 until 8 at Bielava Resort. Jam with the band Dirt Cheap tonight; they’ll be set up across from Fingerhut Bakery, and their show starts at 8. Weather permitting fireworks will take place over the lake at dusk.

Activities continue Sunday with the Lions Club pancake breakfast at the California Township Fire House, a bike race, goat drop game, horseshoe tournament, cornhole tournament and parade. Click here for a complete schedule and more information.
