The Bass Lake Beach was cited after the county sanitarian conducted an inspection on Thursday, June 27 and found they lacked the proper safety equipment to remain operational. The sanitarian told the owners of the business that they would have to purchase the necessary equipment before reopening. County Health Nurse Frank Lynch told WKVI that another inspection was conducted the next morning and they found that the beach had been equipped with the proper items, such as a life ring, spine board and shepherd’s hook for rescue operations. The beach was then allowed to reopen.

Beach officials are still working on getting the business up to state code following an inspection by the State Board of Health that found a number of violations that need rectified. Lynch said they have been making progress in getting those problems fixed, most of which were maintenance issues, but they still have a few issues that need addressed.

An inspector is expected to arrive at the beach on July 19 to ensure the problems have been addressed to prevent further citations.
