Work Continues on Monterey Bridge Despite Storms

Luckily, the LaPorte Construction crew finished critical work on the Monterey Bridge before the storms went through the area Wednesday night.

Bret Smiley, construction manager with United Consulting, said the crew prepared for the storm and were able to keep working Thursday.

Retaining walls were poured in the project on Tuesday on the north side of the river. This completes all of the work on substructure/retaining walls and the crew is now moving forward with the superstructure work.

The crew is working right on schedule with this project. It is expected to be completed on time in September.
