Jeff Johnston, maintenance director for Pulaski County, request the approval of purchases from the county commissioners this week that he claims will help improve the condition of the county annex building.

Johnston told the commissioners that he is working on completing a number of maintenance projects, including some deficiencies that were found while repairing the air conditioning at the courthouse. The electrical work at the courthouse has also been completed, though they need to perform some follow-up tasks such as labeling the breaker box.

He also informed the commissioners that he will soon be presenting a comparison of two quotes presented to replace the roof at the highway garage. The first quote came in at $16,200, while the second quote from Five Star Roofing came in at $21,200. He recommended the higher quote, however, due to the fact that they are a large-scale company and will provide two levels of protection against roof leakage. He said he will present a comparison at their next meeting.

Johnston requested the purchase of a three-way mixing valve and to have the Havel Company perform the replacement of leaking compression seals and other work to improve the air conditioning unit at the annex building. The commissioners passed a motion, approving the expenditure of $1800 for the valve and $2732 for the AC work.
