Plymouth Man Sentenced on Dealing in Methamphetamine Charge

Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen sentenced a Plymouth man earlier this month for his role in assisting in the sale of methamphetamine to an undercover informant.

Shawn T. Speirs, 41, of Plymouth pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with two years suspended. Speirs will be placed on two years of reporting probation after his release from prison. He was also ordered to testify truthfully against any co-defendants.

The case began when an officer from the Marshall County Undercover Narcotics Investigative Team saw suspicious drug activity at a home located in the 5000 block of 18th Road in Oct. 2012. Months later, an informant notified officers that the resident in the home wanted to sell methamphetamine. A controlled buy was arranged and completed with that resident. Another controlled buy was arranged and this time Speirs assisted in that sale and was later arrested. Speirs admitted in open court to being a part of that sale.
