NWICA to Offer Food Voucher for Older Residents

  
 
The Northwest Indiana Community Action agency is hosting a Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program in this area on July 3.

The program provides a voucher up to $20 for individuals 60 years or older to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from participating local farmers markets and food stands.

The following locations will be host to this distribution on July 3: West Side Center in Medaryville, North Judson Senior Center and Community Services of Starke County building in Knox. Distribution will be held in Medaryville from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET, in North Judson from 9:30 to 11 a.m. CT and in Knox from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT.

If you meet the age requirement of being 60 years of age and older, possess a valid driver’s license or state identification card and can provide proof of household income not more than 185 percent of the Annual Povery Income Guidelines, you are eligible to participate in this program. No income verification is required if you show documentation of participation in food stamps at the time of application.
