LaPorte Police Investigate Alleged Gun Threat in 300 Block of Roosevent St.

The LaPorte Police Department investigated a report of a man being threatened with a gun pointed point-blank at his face on Friday around 9:52 p.m. The victim told police he had gone to a residence in the 300 block of Roosevelt Street to visit a couple he was friends with but had not seen in some time.

He said he knocked on the door and saw the man walking around inside the home, but he was not answering the door. The victim said he then went to the rear door and knocked, and alleged the man then came outside, pointed a handgun at him and told him to leave the property. The victim said he also saw the woman inside the home and she appeared scared.

The victim left the property and walked a few blocks where he noticed police and reported the incident.

Officers then traveled to the home and spoke with the occupants, both of whom stated the victim was not welcome on the property because of past problems and has been told to stay away. The male suspect told police he did have his handgun when he answered the door, but had it pointed down at his side. He said he told the victim to leave the property and the victim wanted to argue, but finally left.

A review of charges has been forwarded to the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office.
