Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall rejected a plea agreement for a repeat offender.

Christopher Webb, 26, had previously pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state on a charge of Burglary as a Class C felony. He allegedly broke into a storage locker and stole a Honda motorcycle in September of last year. The incident also reportedly resulted in damage to the motorcycle.

As the sentencing hearing proceeded Wednesday morning, Hall found that Webb had prior convictions of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and Theft. In addition, he had a probation violation in a prior case. In a pre-sentence investigation, officials found that he was at a high risk of being a repeat offender.

Hall rejected the plea agreement and said that he was not a good candidate for probation and the sentence was not long enough in this case. Hall asked Webb and Webb’s attorney, Richard Ballard, if a status hearing should be set or a jury trial. Webb asked for a jury trial which has been set for June 19 at 9 a.m. CT.
