Memorial Service Held at Pulaski County Justice Center

 
 
A memorial service was held Tuesday afternoon at the Pulaski County Justice Center to remember the lives of three officers who were killed in the line of duty: Sheriff Charles Henry Oglesby who was shot and killed on Oct. 5, 1907, Sheriff Milo “Mike” Lewis who was shot and killed on Oct. 11, 1967 and Deputy Sheriff Shadron Kiley “Shad” Bassett who was killed in a single vehicle accident while responding to a call on Oct. 7, 2005.

Pulaski County Sheriff Michael Gayer said he brought this service to the county that is patterned after a similar service conducted by the Indiana State Police for fallen troopers.

A prayer was given by the pastor of the Bethel Bible Church, Retired State Police Maj. Tom Melville was the featured soloist, “Amazing Grace” was performed by two bagpipe players from the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation, and Sgt. Investigator Brian Schnick from the Indiana State Police Lowell Post played “Taps.”
