ISP Touts Success of Drug Take Back Event

The sixth Drug Enforcement Administration Drug Take Back Event resulted in the collection of 11.5 tons of unwanted medications being dropped off statewide. The Indiana State Police drop-off locations contributed 1,875.5 pounds to that total.

The goal is to reduce the improper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs by providing an alternative to flushing them down the toilet, placing them in regular trash or leaving them in the home susceptible to unintended or illegal use.

The Knox City Police Department and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office will both accept unwanted or expired prescription medications at any time. If you’re in Knox, you can drop your drugs into a container in the police department lobby any time. It is monitored by a security camera for public safety. The drop-off location at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is available during business hours.
