Indiana Named Best Place to Do Business in Midwest

Indiana was recently recognized as the best place to do business in the Midwest and the fifth best place nationwide, according to a survey by Chief Executive magazine which polled more than 500 chief executives. The magazine’s ninth annual “Best and Worst States” survey asked CEOs to evaluate which states they would most like to do business in based on business tax policies, regulation, workforce qualify and livability factors. Since 2010, Indiana has risen 11 places in the survey.

Governor Mike Pence announced that the ranking is validates the work Hoosiers have done since day one to make the state the top jobs state in the country. He said the talented workforce, solid fiscal house and robust infrastructure has brought national attention to the state’s job creation efforts.

Indiana recently enacted the largest tax cut in state history – more than $600 million a year – under the leadership of the governor and a pro-business legislature. Indiana is the only state in the country to achieve more than $1 billion in tax cuts over the next two years, through a combination of income tax relief, inheritance tax repeal and other business tax reductions.

Indiana is the only Midwestern state in the publication’s top five ranking, soaring above neighboring states Kentucky in 29th place, Ohio in 22nd, Michigan in 44th and Illinois in 48th.
