Unemployment Rates Drop in March

  
 
The unemployment rate in Starke County dropped in March.

The unemployment rate is 11.6 percent for Starke County which is down 0.6 percent from February while Indiana’s rate is 8.7 percent. The state’s rate remained unchanged at 8.7 percent.

LaPorte ranks fifth in the state unemployment at a rate of 11.6 percent. Starke County follows LaPorte in sixth place. The surrounding counties all report a lower unemployment rate. Marshall County is at 9.5 percent, Porter County is at 8.7 percent while Pulaski County stands at 7.6 percent. Pulaski County ranks 80th in the state in terms of unemployment.

Three Indiana counties reported an increase in unemployment while 10 remained unchanged. Seventy-nine counties are down in unemployment.
