Starke County Teen Injured in an Alleged Reckless Driving Incident

 
 

A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after a reckless driving incident.

Dispatchers working in the Starke County 911 center received a call of from a person who reported a girl had fallen out of the bed of a pick-up truck and was laying in the middle of the roadway in the North Judson area.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and attended to 18-year-old Amber Johnston-Letts who was later airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She was later released with only minor injuries.

An investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Department found that the driver, Dale L. Quaife II, 22, was reportedly driving recklessly which led to the cause of the incident.

Quaife was arrested on a preliminary charge of Reckless Driving, a Class A misdemeanor. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs are suspected in this case, but a blood test was administered and the sample from Quaife has been sent to the state lab for processing.
