Highway Superintendent Neal Haeck presented the commissioners with three bids he obtained to outfit the truck chassis that were recently purchased. The bids contained specifications for plows, truck beds and hydraulics to be assembled on the chassis. The commissioners approved the low bid submitted by Hoosier Equipment at a cost of $49,969 per truck which comes to a total of $99,938.
Haeck also told the commissioners that he ordered 950 ton of road salt for the 2013-2014 snow season. By ordering it now, the department saved $20 a ton.
The commissioners also approved prepayment for the Health Department’s new vehicle in the amount of $26,208. The board had approved the purchase of a Ford Edge from Oliver Ford at a previous meeting.
A prepayment of $10,000 was also approved for the 4-H Fair Board.
