The Knox Board of Public Works opened bids for the upcoming lift station project.

The lift station near the south side fire station on Clabaugh Drive is antiquated and will be replaced in this project.

Three bids were received. Thomas Excavating in Argos had a base bid of $184,418 and $42,846 in alternate bids; HRP Construction in South Bend submitted a base bid of $196,790 and $42,685 in alternate bids and Selge Construction in Niles, Michigan had a base bid of $170,405 and $26,255 in alternate bids. The alternate bids were for such items as air release and manhole, 4-inch PVC main, portable pump, traffic guard and direct, line stock, and others.

The board took those bids under advisement and they will be looked over by Town Attorney David Matsey, Wastewater Superintendent Kelly Clemons and the engineer. The board will vote on approval of the lowest conforming bid mostly likely at their next meeting.
