North Judson Town Board Awards Cemetery Mowing Bid

The North Judson Town Board last week reviewed two bids received for the mowing of the cemetery before accepting a bid for $900 per mowing. Council President Wendy Hoppe explained that Altman Lawn Care presented the bid, and included proof of liability insurance, while Lawrence Lawn and Landscape offered a bid of $850 per mowing – a lower price, but the bid packet did not include proof of insurance.

Councilmember Jane Ellen Felchuk moved to award the 2013 cemetery mowing contract to Altman Lawn Care as the “lowest, most responsive” bidder. Because the company included proof of liability insurance as required, while Lawrence Lawn and Landscape did not, the board unanimously approved the motion, awarding the contract to Altman Lawn Care.

Town Attorney Rachel Arndt indicated to the board that she had finalized the cemetery mowing contract, and said it is ready for signatures from both the council and the contractor. Hoppe said she will contact Dave Altman and inform him that they have been awarded the contract, and she said she will also get his signature on the paperwork.
