A Plymouth police veteran is now at the helm of the department he has called home for 22 years.

Dave Bacon was just recently named the Plymouth police chief.

“Mayor Sentor appointed me on Feb. 1 of this year,” he said. “I believe he was just looking for a change.”

Bacon replaces Jim Cox as the Chief of the Plymouth Police Department.

Bacon was born and raised in the hub of Marshall County and states his police force is doing what it can to combat its number one problem.

“One of the biggest problems we have right now is meth,” Bacon said. “We are combating that pretty aggressively. Our K9 officer, John Wier, works on that quite extensively and we partner with the Indiana State Police. They have a couple of officers dedicated to that and we’re also involved in the Marshall County Drug Unit.”

Bacon replaces Jim Cox as the Chief of the Plymouth Police Department.
