Local National Day of Prayer Scheduled for May 2

The local National Day of Prayer event sponsored by the city of Knox will be on May 2 at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox.

One of the committee members, Dixie Lockridge, said Ed Hasnerl will be the guest speaker.

“The theme this year throughout the nation is Honoring Our Heroes. Who better to do that than our Historian Ed Hasnerl? There will be other clergy members who will be involved as well as our Master of Ceremonies who will be Charlie Hasnerl,” stated Lockridge.

The event will be catered.

“Christo’s will be doing the breakfast again this year. They are just fabulous with us. They send a team in to help set up the tables and they gratefully they do clean up,” said Lockridge.

Pat Seese will be the pianist for the event.

Lockridge stated that is one of the greatest community events.

“I think there is nothing better than a community coming together and praying. Praying for our country, praying for our community. I just think this is a really, really good thing,” Lockridge said.

Tickets are available by calling Knox Mayor Rick Chambers’ office at (574) 772-4553. The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. CT on May 2.
