Last week was a busy week for the Starke Circuit Court as Judge Kim Hall handed down sentences to a number of people on a variety of charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. Jacob Nemeth and Matthew Henning were among those sentenced in the court on Thursday.

Nemeth pleaded guilty to Intimidation as a Class C felony, and as part of the plea agreement, the prosecutor dismissed the remaining counts against him, including two charges of Pointing a Firearm as a Class D felony. He was sentenced to two years in the Department of Corrections, all of which were suspended, and he will serve two years on probation.

A few hours later, Henning appeared for his plea and sentencing hearing, pleading guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance as a Class D felony and Possession of Marijuana as a Class A misdemeanor. Judge Kim Hall suspended the sentence of 13 months in the Department of Corrections, and he will serve that suspended sentence on probation. He also suspended a 12-month sentence in the Starke County Jail for the misdemeanor possession charge, also to be served on probation; however, those sentences will run concurrently, so Henning will be on probation for 13 months.
