“Celebrating the Arts” Event Planned For April 6 in Winamac

Winamac’s chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Iota Xi, will once again be “Celebrating the Arts” in the Winamac community on April 6. The event, which will be held at the Church of the Heartland at 890 E. Highway 14, will take place 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. ET with free admission, but the sorority is welcoming a suggesting $1 donation, the proceeds of which will support the event.

Once again, Stacy Bogan is the event’s featured artist and will complete quick-sketch portraits in roughly 15 minutes each, but her portraits aren’t just your basic caricatures; rather, Bogan’s work captures the true personality of her subject. Sittings are available for $10.

Also at the event, the Eastern Pulaski Express Choir will perform a select number of songs at 11:30 a.m., followed by “Miss Emily’s Ballerinas” at noon. That, on top of art on display by art students from Pulaski County and the surrounding area, makes the event a must to attend. Cash prizes for top places in K-12 student art categories of painting and drawing.

The entry submission deadline for work is April 2, with visual art entries accepted on April 2 at the Church of the Heartland in Winamac from 3:30–6 p.m. ET or at Bennett Insurance, located at 118 N. Monticello in Winamac before 3 p.m. ET. Those interested in submitting pieces for performing arts should contact celebratingthearts@gmail.com with their group and piece name, genre and performance length.
