The Knox Board of Public Works approved three change orders to the Phoenix House construction project Wednesday morning.

The construction project began in mid-January with site preparations beginning in December. The Phoenix House suffered flooding and grant money was sought by K-IRPC to aid in the construction project. The garage is being expanded to include a storage area, a group meeting room, a library and computer area.

The framing has been complete as well as the plumbing to affected areas. The electrician richmond is expected to be on site this week and all of the windows, siding and roofing has been done.

The Board of Works approved three difference change orders as presented by Van Janovic from Territorial Engineering for light fixtures, computer cables in three different locations and phone lines for five different locations. As part of the order for the phone lines, a pathway will be made to make the installation and any further work concerning the phones much easier.

The total cost of the changes total approximately $1,232.

The city is also waiting for funds to be released from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs to pay for services already rendered. Mayor Rick Chambers is concerned about the timing of the release of funds just in case the city may have to cover those funds. City officials will be calling K-IRPC to make sure payments do not fall on the city.
