A LaPorte woman reported a fraud case to the LaPorte City Police Department.
She told investigators that she obtained a Rush card through Citibank in Chicago which is an account in which her paychecks are deposited.
On Feb. 21, the victim received a text message from Rush informing her that her $4,060 tax refund had been deposited into her account. She attempted to use the card the next day and it was declined.
Upon further investigation, she learned that someone posing as her contacted Rush on Feb. 8 requesting a new card be sent to a new address and canceled her current card. She immediately filed a complaint with the police department.
