Accident Claims Life of Plymouth Woman

A Marshall County woman has died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Friday morning.

State police troopers and emergency personnel from Marshall County responded to U.S. 31 and 4A Road where they found one vehicle in the ditch west of U.S. 31 and another in the center median.

Preliminary investigation found that 86-year-old Alice M. Garner of Plymouth was driving east on 4A Road and as she was attempting to cross U.S. 31 she pulled out into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by Jack Teska, Jr. of Nappanee. A witness told police that Garner had stopped at the stop sign but continued into the path of Teska’s vehicle.

Teska received minor injuries and was treated by medical personnel at the scene. Garner suffered a severe head injury and was transported to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth where she later died.
