Semi, Tractor Accident In Marshall County Sends Man to the Hospital

A vehicle accident between a tractor and a semi near the intersection of U.S. 30 and King Road in Marshall County led to a man being transported to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for injuries.

On Thursday night around 5:49 p.m., the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a call of a two-vehicle accident involving the semi and farm tractor. The call was originally received as a property damage accident with no injuries, but it was soon learned that one of the drivers involved suffered injuries in the accident and required transportation to the hospital.

An officer responded to the accident to investigate and learned that 53-year-old Philip Godshalk of Plymouth was driving a 1974 International farm tractor pulling a mixer when he pulled up to the intersection and stopped for the traffic light. Unfortunately, Godshalk didn’t realize that the loader portion of his tractor was sticking out too far into the intersection until it was too late.

A 2011 Volvo semi being driven by Oudou Ousseini, 44 of Cincinnati, was traveling east on U.S. 30 at the time and collided with the tractor that was sticking out in the road. The forks on the tractor’s loader struck the passenger side cab portion of the semi and penetrated the body, causing a substantial amount of damage to the vehicle. The tractor also received a significant amount of damage.

Plymouth EMS and the fire department were quickly dispatched to the scene and transported Ousseini to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
