Knox Schools To Implement School Messenger To Keep Parents Updated

Superintendent A.J. Gappa

The Knox Community School Corporation will be implementing a new system to better keep parents and patrons aware of upcoming events or other important news concerning the corporation.

Superintendent A.J. Gappa said the School Messenger ties into the PowerSchool database.

“It allows us to send out text messages, emails and phone calls on an automated basis,” said Gappa. “Our initial purpose would be to notify people of school delays and closings. We can also send out school-wide notifications or information from each building about important upcoming dates or other important information.”

The new system is expected to be up and running Jan. 14.

Gappa added that the messenger program will be essential if there happens to be a corporation-wide emergency.

“School Messenger might play right into that because we would be able to get instant messages out to people,” Gappa said.

In order for the system to send text messages, you will have to sign up for the alerts. Again, the system will not be functional until Jan. 14.
