IU Health LaPorte, Starke Hospitals Welcome New Department Director

IU Health Starke and La Porte hospitals welcomes a new director of quality, patient safety, and satisfaction. Registered Nurse Sharon Rundle will oversee the departments, which includes infection control for both hospitals. On top of that, she will oversee the cancer registry program as well as handle nurse coordination, education, and research programs affiliated with Michigan Hematology Oncology in Westville.

With more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Rundle is ready to take on the responsibility. The majority of her career took place at Community Hospital in Munster, though she also worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, as well as Methodist Hospital in Gary and the Center for Specialty Surgery in Munster.

Rundle’s nursing expertise includes medical and surgical, critical care, nursing administration, case management, ambulatory surgery, regulatory compliance, project management, and quality and safety. Rundle most recently served as director of quality and safety at IU Health Starke Hospital since 2011.

Rundle received her Associate in Nursing from Purdue University, her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Master of Arts in Organizational Management and Organizational Leadership from Ashford University, Iowa. She is also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.
