Culver Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes to Participate in Presidential Inaugural Parade

The Culver Academies’ Black Horse Troop and Equestriennes will participate in the Presidential Inaugural Parade on January 21.

Their participation marks the 100th anniversary of the Black Horse Troop’s first ride down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Culver was among 42 organizations which had accepted invitations to the 57th Inaugural Parade. There were 2,800 applications submitted to the Joint Task Force – National Capital Region, which in turn submitted a list of eligible applicants to reviewed by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. That is twice the number of parade applications for President Obama’s first inaugural.

59 cadets from the Black Horse Troop and 24 members of the Culver Girls Academy Equestriennes will make the trip to Washington. Nearly 90 horses will be transported. The students will also get an opportunity to tour Washington, D.C.

The Culver units are the only units that will be participating from Indiana.
