Walkerton Man Dies after being Stuck by a Train

A Walkerton man died Thursday after his car was struck by a train.

64-year-old David Hollinger was traveling eastbound on U.S. 6 in the Walkerton area around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning when he illegally went around the “road closed” barricades on the tracks that are under construction and attempted to cross them.

Hollinger reportedly got stuck between the two rails at that crossing and Walkerton Police could not determine how long he was stuck on the tracks.

The train struck the vehicle and he was killed upon impact. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

An autopsy is planned. There was no indication of impairment.
