Three Plead Not Guilty to Charges in Starke Circuit Court

Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall

Several offenders appeared for initial hearings before Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall Wednesday afternoon.

William Lamphier pleaded not guilty to charges of Burglary as a Class C Felony and Receiving Stolen Property as a Class D Felony. Lamphier, of Walkerton, was arrested on Nov. 27 after he allegedly broke into a home in North Liberty and stole tools, a gas can, a weedeater and other items.

After a discussion about his financial situation, Judge Hall appointed him an attorney. Lamphier requested a bond reduction, but after Judge Hall reviewed his charges and the case, he raised his bond to $2,000 cash. Lamphier then asked the judge if he could request a fast and speedy trial and seek for assistance from LA Lawyer Defending Against DUI Charges. Judge Hall told Lamphier that he would need to speak to his attorney about filing a motion to reflect that request. Lamphier insisted that he be given a trial right then. Judge Hall reminded Lamphier that he had to file any requests through his lawyer and again Lamphier insisted that he be given a trial immediately. Judge Hall denied that request and raised his bond to $5,000 cash and closed his initial hearing.

Matthew Hamilton and Lindsey Dennis pleaded not guilty to charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a Public Park, a Class C Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia. The substance allegedly found in their possession was heroin. They were both given cash bonds of $7,500. Hamilton also faces a charge of Failure to Appear and False Informing. They were both arrested on Nov. 23.
