Former Representative Dembowski Continues To Work With Starke County

Nancy Dembowski

With his win in the General Election, Tom Dermody took over the seat formerly held by Nancy Dembowski as she chose not to run again in this year’s election, but she won’t be standing idly by.

“Well, I’ll still work with the Starke County Economic Development Foundation which is something that I’ve worked with almost from its inception and it’s made such an incredible contribution to this county. As long as they want me to do that, I definitely will be there for that. I’m also involved in some health organizations that I hope will make some real contributions to the county, too,” said Dembowski.

Dembowski will also be assisting a committee at IU Health Starke Hospital that will focus on bringing up the health numbers in Starke County.

“What we need to do is to make people realize, the citizens here in Starke County, how much those health issues affect everything else that we do. And we’re trying to make people understand that healthy citizens make so much difference in a community. There are so many aspects – everything from education to the serious drug problems that we have – all of those things are crucial. We need to pull people together and make them understand that.”

That committee is just one of the many community organizations Nancy Dembowski will continue with in Starke County.

As we celebrate her return to Starke County, an open house has been scheduled for this Sunday, Nov. 18 from 2–4 p.m. CT at the Knox Community Center to celebrate her 26 years of civil service to the State of Indiana and the City of Knox.

“I guess it’s sort of a retirement reception and it would be great to see anyone that wants to stop by. I don’t know that I did all that much. It’s just doing my job for a few years, but I appreciate the thought,” said Dembowski.
