Recent Thefts in Knox Highlight Need to Lock Vehicles

The Knox City Police Department has responded to several thefts this week.

Residents have complained to police that items have turned up missing from their vehicles. The reports indicate that unknown subject(s) got into the cars, rifled through everything inside and stole change or any money left in the car. In some instances, firearms were stolen.

Many of the victims told police that their car doors were left unlocked and the subject(s) were able to gain entry and steal their belongings. Some reported that a spare key was left inside the vehicle.

Knox City Police Chief Clint Norem encourages you to lock your vehicle when it is left unattended. Do not leave money, wallets, purses or any valuables inside your car.
