North Judson Police Department

From the North Judson Police Department:

Incidents:
10/27/12 Police responded to 100 block of Arlington Avenue in reference to a battery and some subjects being sprayed with pepper spray. After an initial investigation, North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas arrested Joesph Esposito, 24, of North Judson. Chief Deputy Joe Budner assisted Officer Thomas on the arrest. Esposito was originally arrested and held on four felony Battery charges and three counts of Felony Intimidation. The case report was turned over to the Starke County Prosecutor for review.

10/27/12 In the early morning hours, officers responded to the 200 Block of Maryland Street in reference to an unwanted guest. The male suspect had pounded on the door, causing damages, threatened the tenant, fled the area, and later intimidated the complaint and the police officer. After he was located, Timothy J. Howard, 36, of LaPorte, was arrested and transported to the Starke County Jail on preliminary charges of Criminal Mischief, Intimidation, Harassment, and for Resisting Law Enforcement.

10/24/12 North Judson Police Officer Frank Thomas located a book bag in the North Judson Town Park. North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely turned the book bag over to North Judson-San Pierre High School officials the following day.

10/24/12 North Judson Police Chief Doug Vessely investigated the theft of a cell phone at the North Judson-San Pierre High School. After Chief Vessely left the high school, the cell phone was turned in to the High School Office.

10/24/12 North Judson Police Officer James Upsall responded to a traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of State Road 10 and State Road 39. When Officer Upsall arrived, a male subject later identified as Andrew D. Morgan, 40, of Knox, was complaining of leg pain. Andrew advised he was on his scooter and there was too much weight with his passenger on it and the scooter tipped over. Starke County EMS transported Morgan to IU Health Starke Hospital. The passenger of the scooter left the scene before Officer Upsall arrived and he could not be located.

10/24/12 North Judson Police Officer James Upsall was on patrol and observed two male juveniles punching each other in the face at the North Judson Town Park. Officer Upsall broke up the fight and transported the juveniles to the North Judson Police Station. Both sets of parents were contacted and the juveniles were released to their parents.

10/22/12 North Judson Police Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a property damage accident on State Road 10 and State Road 39 South. A semi driven by Michael McDermet of North Carolina was turning onto State Road 39 and swung out wide to avoid hitting a vehicle and struck the stop sign pole. Chief Deputy Budner estimated the total damages at over $2,500. No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.

10/28/12 Timothy J. Howard, 36, 300 W. LaPorte Street, Unit #1, Plymouth, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Criminal Mischief, Harassment, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Felony Intimidation.

10/27/12 Joseph Esposito, 24, 502 Magnolia Street, North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary felony charges of Battery (four counts) and Intimidation (three counts).

10/20/12 Joseph Rojas Jr., 46, 630 Lane Street, North Judson, IN arrested on two Starke County warrants and a Jasper County warrant.

Pulaski County Sheriff's Department

From the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department:

Incidents:
Deputies were called to several car vs. deer accidents this week. Police are encouraging to be cautious for deer especially at this time of the year.

10/28/12 The Winamac Police Department was called to a large fight at the VFW.

10/28/12 Police were called to a single vehicle accident that was trapped in his vehicle. The caller stated that the victim was bleeding from one ear and is moving around. The vehicle reportedly hit a stop sign pole.

10/28/12 A rollover accident was reported on 1200 West between 100 and 200 South in Winamac. The driver only sustained minor injuries.

10/27/12 A Winamac resident told police that there are hunters that are spotlighting on the property.

10/27/12 A Francesville man called police to complain that his neighbor is burning leaves. The neighbor was advised that while there is no ordinance prohibiting the burning of leaves, he was asked to make the piles smaller to avoid large amounts of smoke.

10/27/12 A Winamac business reported the theft of a lottery ticket.

10/27/12 Winamac police were notified that a child in the back seat of a car had duct tape over his mouth.

10/26/12 A large amount of smoke was reported coming from the roof at McDonald’s.

10/26/12 Pulaski County police investigated a call where a woman called to report that a person had broke out the windows in a vehicle and that she had a cut on the back of her head.

10/25/12 The Winamac Fire Department was called to a fire at the Broken Arrow Campground. Campers were burning leaves and the fire is spreading to other campsites.

10/25/12 Two vehicles reportedly caused damage to the grass while “tearing” around the St. John United Catholic Church in Medaryville.

10/24/12 A Winamac man told police that some unknown person(s) stole his checkbook, signature stamp and debit card and the thief has been cashing those checks. The case has been forwarded to the detective division.

10/23/12 A Winamac woman called police to report that she just hit her neighbor’s dog with her car.

10/23/12 Police were called to the scene of an accident where one car was in the ditch at 300 West and 200 North in Winamac. The driver was not injured.

10/23/12 The Winamac Police Department was called to the scene of a house fire. The caller said his house was struck by lightning and now there’s a fire in the kitchen. Everyone safely exited the home.

10/23/12 A candidate up for election reported the theft of campaign signs.

10/22/12 The Winamac Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire.

10/22/12 A woman was rescued after she fell into a hole. The victim did not sustain major injuries.

10/26/12 Edward Royce, 30, of Knox, IN, arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear.

10/26/12 Taylor Lawson, 19, of North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

10/22/12 Elliot Hicks, 42, of Wheatfield, IN, arrested on a probation violation.

10/22/12 James Lindahl, 20, of Medaryville, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Burglary (two counts), Theft, Criminal Conversion, Criminal Mischief, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Battery with Injury.

From the Knox City Police Department:

Incidents:
10/29/12 Sherry Jones and Teresa Sanders told police that theirs car were egged sometime during the night.

10/27/12 A Knox man was reportedly hit by a car. The victim said he was walking on Danker Street near East Street and a car pulled up behind him and hit him with the car. The victim sustained several small cuts to his left forearm, a swollen right hand and complained of pain to his right knee. There is a suspect in this case.

10/26/12 Erendira Partida reported several items stolen from inside her vehicle.

10/24/12 An ALCO employee reported finding an empty, used purse in the store. The employee believes a customer came in, left the old purse and stole a new purse.

10/24/12 Earl Smith told police that a generator was stolen from his garage.

10/23/12 A battery incident occurred outside the USA Cafe. Roy McCarty and Michael Dennis reportedly got into a fist fight outside the bar.

10/23/12 A minor property damage accident occurred outside the Zingo Express Station in the parking lot.

10/22/12 A minor fender bender occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Redskin Trail.

10/21/12 Robert Snowdon told police that some unknown subject(s) went through his vehicle and found that items from the glovebox had been thrown about the truck. It was unknown if anything was missing at the time.

10/29/12 Juan Dominguez, 28, arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery.

10/26/12 Erica Bailey, 23, 2420 E. 400 S., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Theft.
David B. Vermilyer, 31, 4940 S. 260 W., North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Theft and Public Intoxication.

10/26/12 Maxine Grigsby, 34, 309 Ruthir Dr., Apt A3, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Theft and Possession of Marijuana Under 30 Grams.

Incidents

10/21/12 – Catherine Green requested an ambulance for her sister Jacquelyn who had been battered by four females at the Bass Lake Sand Bar.

10/21/12 – Linda Rowe of WInamac told police her truck had been rummaged through in the 4200 block of South 100 West in North Judson.

10/21/12 – A female cller told police she had been battered by her boyfriend’s mother in Knox.

10/22/12 – A caller told police that he had found a cooler containing items to manufacture methamphetamine on 100 East south of 100 South.

10/22/12 – A resident of the 7100 block of North Evergreen Drive in Walkerton told police that someone had vandalized her mailbox.

10/22/12 – A resident of the 11700 block of East 400 North in Grovertown told police that someone had stolen a lockbox from her house.

10/22/12 – A mailbox was reportedly destroyed in the 3100 block of West 900 South in North Judson.

10/23/12 – A caller from the 2700 blokc of East 150 South in Knox told police that someone had attempted to break into her home the previous night by prying open the door.

10/24/12 – Police learned a vehicle had been stolen in the 10700 block of East Division Road in Knox.

10/25/12 – A resident of the 7900 block of North Frost Street in Walkerton told police that her husband had battered her in the parking lot of Country Roads Bar and Grill.

10/26/12 – A caller from the 5200 block of South 250 West in North Judson reported a fraud.

10/27/12 – A caler from the 8800 block of South Elm Street in Monterey told police that someone was trying to take items from his yard.

10/27/12 – Extra patrol was requested in the 7700 block of East 200 North in Knox after a caller reported his political signs had been stolen.

10/27/12 – Ralph Collins of North Judson told police someone had flattened the tires on his vehicle.

Arrests

10/24/12 – Kenneth M. Emmons, 59, of Walkerton was arrested after allegedly threatening his neighbor over a hunting dispute.
