Shop with a Cop Event Puts Necessary School Items in Hands of Kids

The second annual Shop with a Cop event was a success.

Members of the Kankakee Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #129 helped 36 children from all three Starke County school corporations purchase needed items for the start of school. The officers and children did their shopping at ALCO in Knox.

F.O.P. President Chris Kisela said they were able to spend $100-$120 on each child this year, thanks to fundraising efforts throughout the year. He added that the event was a success because of the positive interaction between the children, their parents, and the F.O.P. officers.

The F.O.P. will continue to set higher goals each year for fundraising in order to help more children get their school supplies.

The Kankakee Valley F.O.P Lodge #129 consists of officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Knox City Police Department, North Judson Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Conservation Officers from the Department of Natural Resources.
