A former Knox High School basketball coach was arrested yesterday morning amidst allegations of sexual misconduct with a student that occurred as early as 2007.

Thirty-nine-year-old Todd Boldry of Knox was arrested on charges of Child Seduction and Official Misconduct, both of which are Class D felonies. Starke County Prosecutor Nick Bourff says each of those counts carry a sentence between six months and three years and up to a $10,000 fine. Bourff says Boldry was arrested on school grounds Friday morning.

“Under Count II, the Indiana Code considers an employee of a school corporation to be a public servant,” Bourff said. “The charges filed against Mr. Boldry allege an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student at Knox High School, where Todd Boldry was previously employed as a teacher and basketball coach, and that it occurred on Knox High School Property,” said Bourff. “Mr. Boldry was taken into custody by the Knox City Police Department Friday morning at Knox Middle School where he was employed as a teacher.”

According to the affidavit for probable cause, the encounter began in the fall of 2007 while the victim was a junior at the Knox High School when Boldry began sending the victim text messages. The inappropriate physical conduct reportedly began in December 2007, when they would meet in the training room at the school. Boldry reportedly bought an extra cell phone with which to contact the victim.

The inappropriate conduct allegedly continued from 2007 through 2009, when the victim says she became pregnant in August. She gave birth to her son in May 2010, and since then, a DNA test has been completed and Todd Boldry was found to be the father of the child.

Bourff emphasized that these are merely allegations at this time.

“As of right now, the prosecutor’s office wants to point out and make clear that Mr. Boldry is innocent of these allegations until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” said Bourff.
