Travelers on U.S. 30 may encounter a number of bumps in the road – literally. These bumps seem to develop on highways in extreme heat, and the Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that they will be sending out crews to level out those highway humps.
INDOT Media Relations Director Matt Deitchley said that a repair schedule has been worked out, and they expect work to begin on U.S. 31 and U.S. 30 very soon.
“Certainly, as soon as possible they’re going to get out. They have a whole schedule made up of the spots that they need to address so they’re going to head out there and take care of that,” said Deitchley.
Crews will be out working with a grinder to level the bumps out, and work will first begin on U.S. 31 before workers make their way to U.S. 30. The work is expected to take more than a week.
With this summer’s extreme heat, these humps seem to be more prevalent than they have been in the past. However, these bumps do develop regularly and INDOT says they are nothing out of the ordinary.
