Rummage Sale Planned to Benefit Drew Shearin Scholarship Fund

The Drew Shearin Scholarship Fund is receiving some support from local student Taylor Kemble, who has organized a rummage sale to take place Friday, May 4 at the Knox United Methodist Church. Kemble says that because this will likely be her last rummage sale, she felt she needed to benefit someone who had a huge impact on her life– the late Drew Shearin.

“Well, I’ve been doing this for, I believe, the past four years now, and I just decided that since this was probably going to be my last rummage sale, I wanted to do something for Drew because he was a huge part of my life, and he inspired me to do many things and I just decided that this was going to be dedicated to him,” said Kemble. Some of the organizations that Kemble has raised support for include Turkey Tracks, Henderson’s Settlement in Kentucky, and a number of others. She says she expects a big crowd because of the community’s support for Shearin, and she expects to get rid of at least three-quarters of the donations they receive. Donations will be accepted Wednesday, May 2, and Thursday, May 3, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Knox United Methodist Chuch.

Kemble says that one big change they have planned this year is to sell trash bags full of items for $5, and the bags will be provided. As of now, Kemble says they have a large number of clothes for the sale, which will take place Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
