North Judson Town Marshall Doug Vessely presented an estimate to the North Judson Town Board this week for a new squad car. Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry says that no contracts have been signed, but Vessely wanted to give the board an idea on how much a new squad car would cost because of some repairs that are needed on a 2005 squad car. Henry says the board will likely have the squad car repaired for now, and may set aside money in their 2013 budget for a new squad car after Vessely returns with quotes from dealerships.
The town board will also hold two public hearings during their meeting on June 4. The first hearing will allow for the third reading of the board’s second salary ordinance, allowing them to act on the ordinance and adjust their salary policy. The second hearing will discuss the State Road 39 Grant that the board used for the sewer project last year. Henry says that hearing will tie up a loose end that came up when the plans were presented.
Henry says when the plans were presented originally, two parts were removed from the plan because the board expected bids to come in above their budget, so they reduced the grant package in two sections. However, the bids came in significantly lower than they had been expecting, so they added those two sections back into the project since it had been approved in the initial grant request. Part of the clarification process on the package modification includes holding a public hearing.
