Kindergarten Countdown Meeting Tomorrow in Knox

A Kindergarten Countdown informational meeting is scheduled for tomorrow for students entering the Knox Community Elementary School Kindergarten program. Starke United, IU Health and the Knox Community School Corporation are sponsoring a Kindergarten Camp in June and this meeting will help explain the function of the camp. Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the Knox Community School Corporation, Peggy Shidaker, has more.

“We had the camp last year for the first time and we were able to offer it for two weeks, thanks to Starke United and IU Health, and this year they’ve asked us to host it again and they’ve asked us to do it for four week so we’d like to have an informational meeting to talk about that four week Kindergarten mini-camp that’s going to take place.”

The program will be throughout the month of June and Miss Shidaker explains who is eligible for the camp.

“We open the camp, first priority, to those children who have had no preschool experience. It’s actually a Kindergarten readiness camp so it will be for any incoming Knox Kindergartener in the 2012-2013 school year. There will be fun activities for the children as well as academic activities. Kindergarten readiness skills is what we will work on and we’ll also sending home a free book everyday for every child.”

The informational meeting is tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at the Henry F. Schricker Public Library in Knox.
