It’s time to clean out those medicine cabinets. The DEA is sponsoring their Fourth Annual “Prescription Drug Take Back” initiative, giving citizens the perfect opportunity to dispose of those unwanted or unused prescription medication. On Saturday, April 28th, citizens that wish to participate in the program may drop off their prescription drugs for disposal at any State Police Post throughout the state, except the Toll Road Post.
The service is free, anonymous, and no questions are asked– however, locations will not accept new or used needles. The program is intended for liquid and pill medications.
Locally, the Bremen post is accepting prescription drop-offs, located at the intersection of U.S. 6 and the Miami Trail in Marshall County between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET. You may also drop off unused medication at the Starke County Sheriff’s Department today and tomorrow from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT.
This program is intended to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft by removing unused and unwanted prescription medication from homes. Collection sites are set up nationwide, and all prescriptions dropped off will be destroyed.
