Don Zingarelli Passes away at 70

WKVI Radio has received word from June Binkley that her brother, Don Zingarelli, passed away in Florida. Don, at one time, was a Knox businessman and he was a Knox High School graduate. His most famous endeavor was as the owner-operator of Coiffures by Donato located in downtown Knox. His wife, Mary Ann, writes the following information:

Donato Anthony Zingarelli, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on March 27, 2012, due to kidney failure. Donato was born April 18, 1941 in Chicago , Illinois to parents James Anthony Zingarelli and Ida Moroni Zingarelli. He grew up in Chicago and Knox, Indiana.

Don attended barber school in Chicago and later Northwestern University. He was a multi-talented individual and superb cook, owning and operating Coiffours by Donato beauty salon in Knox the Bass Lake Golf and Country Club and The Old Pro Restaurant, as well as dabbling in auctioneering. He retired and moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1986. Retirement didn’t suit him for long and he owned and operated M & M Manufactured home sales for a time and worked for Hawke Pest Control before retiring again in 1996 to pursue his hobby of full time golfing and owning a golf club repair business, “The Club Closet”.

He was a member of Knox Masonic Lodge #639, Knox, IN, was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, a member of Shriners International, and a member of the Huntington Hills Men’s Golf Association.

Don is survived by his wife Mary Ann, sister June (Richard) Binkley, Knox, IN and Leesburg, FL; son James A. (LeeAnne) Zingarelli, and granddaughter Ashlee (Lakeland), daughter Melissa (Robert) VanNess and granddaughters Amanda, Amber, Anna, Autumn and Allaina and grandson Austin (Apopka); nephews Brian and Mark Binkley (Knox, IN); great Nephew Brenden Binkley (Knox, IN), and many other family members.

Cremation has taken place, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakeland, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 8:30 am. ET. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
