$55,000 in Unclaimed Funds Sent to State

Starke County Clerk Evelyn Skronski has sent in a check to the State of Indiana for unclaimed funds.

“As of now, we have turned in $55,836.22,” said Skronski.

We asked Skronski how people find out if they have any unclaimed funds.

“It is www.indianaunclaimed.com. When you get to the site, a little screen will come up and it says ‘simple search’. Enter your first and last name and press search. If you’ve got anything there, it will appear.”

We asked what will happen to the money if it’s not claimed.

“I’m not sure of the time period, but after a certain amount of time it goes back into the state’s General Fund.”

The money from unclaimed funds is valid for at least five years.
