Police Continue to Investigate Shooting in Marshall County

Detectives with the Indiana State Police continue to investigate the police involved shooting that occurred in Marshall County last Thursday night which claimed the life of Mark Albright, 62, of Plymouth. The investigation is expected to be completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office in the next two weeks.

The names of the officers who were involved in the police action shooting are Deputy Jeff Sharp and Deputy Jeff Snyder. Both officers work for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Sharp and Snyder returned fire at Albright after being fired upon.

The coroner said Albright died from multiple gunshot wounds. The coroner would not say how many times Albright was shot because the investigation is still open.

Argos Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Albright’s vehicle after a traffic infraction but he refused to stop and took police from several departments on a 17-mile pursuit. The pursuit ended on Quince Road in Marshall County when Albright reportedly got out of his vehicle and ran. Police say he brandished a gun and fired at officers. It was then officers returned fire and struck Albright. He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
