Community Donations Assist Programs at Eastern Pulaski Schools

Several donations have been made by businesses and individuals toward the acquisition of a new grand piano for the music department at the Winamac High School. Eastern Pulaski School Superintendent Dr. Robert Klitzman said the Winamac Music Boosters’ quest is moving along.

“We’re more than halfway through the price tag that it will take. There’s a nice group from Winamac Coil Spring who donated $5,000. We also had donations from the family of Judge Shurn and John Krakowski in the amount of $250 each. We had a nice donations from those folks towards the grand piano,” said Dr. Klitzman.

The Star City Lions Club has also donated money to the Elementary School for a special program.

“Our Elementary had their annual Reading is Fundamental Program and that program had two components. Our community members come in and read to the students and explain to them the importance of reading specifically in their chosen occupation. The second part of that program is every student at the second grade level get a free book. Those book purchases are sponsored by the Star City Lions Club and that’s in excess of $700.”

Car wash certificates were given to all the staff at the Elementary School as a congratulatory gift for being a big part in making the school a four-star school. The certificates were donated by Don Good from the Good Oil Company in Winamac.
