Initial Hearing Held in Starke Circuit Court for Timothy Howard, Jr.

After he was arrested when police found him breaking into a home, Timothy Howard made his initial appearance in the Starke Circuit Court last week. Facing charges of Possession of a Legend Drug as a Class D felony, Attempted Residential entry as a Class D felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance as a class D felony, two counts of Resisting Law Enforcement as a Class A misdemeanor, Public Intoxication as a Class B misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief as a Class B misdemeanor.

Howard pleaded not guilty to all seven charges against him and told Judge Kim Hall that he plans to hire his own attorney. Hall set his attorney status hearing for Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. and his first pre-trial conference on Feb. 9 at 8 a.m. Howard has until March 8 to file a plea agreement, and he is currently held on a $20,000 surety bond.

Howard was arrested on Friday, December 23rd, when Knox City Police received a complaint of a person breaking into a home on Pearl Street. An officer arrived at the residence, got out of the car and found the suspect, Timothy Howard, Jr., running from the scene. The officer got back into his car and pursued the suspect, before stopping and arresting Howard in the back yard at 154 E. Washington Street.
