A high school gymnasium built for $50,000? Even though it would not be possible today, that is what the Grovertown High School gymnasium was built for in 1928. On this date in 1928, the new gymnasium was dedicated with Mr. Henry Schricker of Knox giving the principal address.

The article about the dedication stated that the gym was completely furnished and had a basketball playing floor of 41 by 64 feet. Normal seating for games was 400, and the gym had two classrooms, science laboratory, library and restrooms built above the structure.

After the program, the boys basketball team played a game with the Alumni and to many the game was a revelation as they had never seen one played before.

Also on this date, considerable damage was done to the Francesville Cooperative Elevator in 1972. Manager Don Markin reported $100,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 damage to the grain.
