Incidents:
10/23/11 A Winamac resident called police to report that a tree was on fire at a neighbor’s house. The Winamac Fire Department was called to the scene. The homeowner said that his daughter was burning leaves and must not have gotten the fire out.

10/23/11 A Star City resident reported the theft of a wallet.

10/22/11 A Winamac business reported that an older man wearing a leader jacket and riding a blue moped left without paying for $4.00 in gas. He did go into the store and did pay for other items.

10/22/11 A Winamac resident called to report that some unknown subject(s) sliced his tires.

10/22/11 The Star City Fire Department was called to a field fire.

10/22/11 A small child was reported missing but later returned to the parents.

10/22/11 The White County Sheriff’s Department notified the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department that a man shot pellets at a girl and a photographer who were in the midst of taking senior pictures by an old barn. One girl was hit in the leg and was injured. The pair did not see “no trespassing” signs and so they started to take pictures. A man in a pickup pulled up and started yelling and shooting an airpellet gun. The photographer’s camera was also hit. They left right away after the incident.

10/22/11 A Star City resident called police to report their neighbor urinating in public.

10/21/11 A resident in Medaryville called police to report the theft of a vehicle. The car was in his front yard and it was taken sometime after 10:00 p.m. ET. He didn’t see or hear anything. The vehicle had a “for sale” sign in the front window and the doors were locked. He has the keys to the vehicle and was waiting for a prospective buyer when it was discovered stolen.

10/21/11 A Winamac resident called to report a strong smell of meth. The Winamac Police Department was advised of the call.

10/20/11 A Medaryville resident reported the theft of $13.00 from her vehicle.

10/19/11n A caller told police that someone struck an electrical box coming out of the ground in Francesville at the corner of James and Morton. The cover was broken off and there are wires exposed.

10/19/11 A Pulaski resident called police that two unknown person(s) riding mopeds attempted to break into his barn again.

10/19/11 The Monterey Fire Department was called to check out a possible fire in a home. The caller said they had a gas leak and her husband tried to light the stove and it caught fire. They thought they got the fire out but the house is full of smoke. The fire department checked out the scene.

10/17/11 A Winamac resident told police that a person pulled up next to him and rolled down his window in his vehicle. He then rolled down his window because he thought they needed something and they threw a deer tail in his car and took off.

10/17/11 Sean Martinez, 20, 5823 Liberty Square, Oak Forest, IL, arrested on preliminary charges of Dealing Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana. Discharged 10/18/11

10/17/11 Trevor Forker, 20, 19006 Codi St., New Buffalo, MI, arrested on preliminary charges of Dealing Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana. Discharged 10/17/11

Accidents:
10/18/11 Two people were injured after a single vehicle accident on County Road 215 East in Pulaski County. Krystal Attinger, 25, of Winamac, was traveling southbound on the county road near 400 North when a deer ran into the roadway. She applied her brakes but she told police her brakes locked up and she lost control of her vehicle. She hit an electrical pole on the east side of the road. According to the accident report, her passenger was intoxicated and had been actively consuming alcohol while the vehicle was in motion. She told police that after the accident, an unknown male picked up her and her passenger and took her to her mother-in-law’s house. She then traveled to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to make a report. She said that her passenger was hurt but that person was not with her when she made the report. Attinger was also injured.

Incidents:
10/23/11 A black bi-fold wallet was turned into Chief Deputy Joe Budner. If you are the owner of the wallet you may come to the North Judson Police Department to pick it up. The wallet was found on State Road 10. You must be able to identify it.

10/22/11 A resident in the 400 block of Keller Avenue reported to Officer William Scheiderer that a men’s 26” mountain bike was stolen out of her yard. The bike is valued under $100.00.

10/20/11 A resident in the 100 block of Lane Street reported a suspicious male wearing a Carhart jacket lingering around her home and the neighbor’s home. North Judson Officer Frank Thomas checked the area and was unable to locate anyone.

10/20/11 North Judson Chief Deputy Joe Budner investigated a head-on collision in front of Liberty Elementary. A 1998 black Oldsmobile Intrigue driven by Matthew J. Gould, 27, of Star City, crossed the center line and struck a maroon 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Gail S. Wanderski, 43. Both drivers were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital with injuries. Chief Deputy Budner estimated the damage as over $5,000.00. Assisting the North Judson Police Department at the accident scene were two Starke County EMS units, North Judson Wayne Township Fire Department and the Indiana State Police.

10/20/11 Officer Frank Thomas investigated a battery complaint between two females in the 600 block of West Talmer Avenue. The report will be completed and turned over to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review for charges.

10/20/11 A resident in the 200 block of High Street reported that someone was banging on her door. Officer Frank Thomas located some juveniles that were playing ding-dong ditch in the area. Officer Thomas advised the juveniles to stay in their own yard and to stop playing their game. The juveniles complied to his request.

10/18/11 A resident in the 100 block of Vine Street reported to North Judson Officer William Scheiderer that she had $50.00 stolen out of her purse. Jessie Moses stated that Grover Hopkins stole the money. Officer Scheiderer spoke with Grover and he stated that he did take $50.00 out of Jessie’s purse. A report was turned into the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office for review for charges.

10/17/11 A resident in the 300 block of Schricker Avenue reported damage to her 2001 Ford Mustang. Donna Lee Muzik stated that she pulled her vehicle out of her driveway on Saturday 10/15/11 at 7:30 a.m. The vehicle sank down in the loose gravel due to the ongoing road work. North Judson police Chief Doug Vessely investigated and estimated the damage under $500.00. The Mustang had damage to the front end and spoiler area.

Greg Risner, 55, arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Knox City Police Chief Clint Norem

Incidents:
10/25/11 Robin Banks reported damage to her vehicle while parked at Knox High School.

10/24/11 It was reported that sometime during the weekend, some unknown person(s) entered the construction site at JW Hicks in Knox and stole five or six rolls of number 10 copper wire and five or six rolls of number 12 copper wire totaling 5,000 feet of copper wire. The wire was hidden in the rafters of the new building.

10/24/11 Police were called to the area of Roosevelt and West John Street for a truck that had just struck a roadway sign and a mailbox and left the scene. There is a suspect in the case.

10/21/11 Knox City Police were called to a Knox residence in reference to a deceased person. An autopsy is pending for Michael Bailey, but according to the police report, the Starke County Coroner found no signs of trauma and he had a history of health issues.

10/19/11 A harassment incident was reported to police.

10/16/11 Police responded to a domestic issue.

Arrests:
10/23/11 Chantel Box, 25, 307 Ruthie Dr. #A3, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle Dangerously While Intoxicated and Operating a Vehicle with a BAC of at least .08%.

10/22/11 Chase Miller, 7120 E. State Road 8, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana.
Two juveniles were arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana along with Miller.

10/21/11 Earl Leonard III, 29, 14 S. East St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery.

Incidents:
10/23/11 Derek Mann called police to report that he has bullet hole in his vehicle.

10/23/11 A resident in the 5000 block of W. 800 S. in North Judson reported that she heard gun shots near her home and a nearby truck took off after the gun shot.

10/23/11 A resident in the 2800 block of N. 1025 E. in Grovertown reported that some unknown person(s) abandoned a blue Chevy pickup truck in a field and the driver was seen taking the license plate off the vehicle.

10/23/11 Police were notified of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was off the roadway and all the windows were broken out of it.

10/22/11 A resident in the 10600 block of E. State Road 8 in Knox reported that people continue to cause problems with her vehicles and other personal property.

10/22/11 A resident in the 4400 block of S. 100 E. in Knox reported shots fired by the residence. The caller said his neighbor just shot his building out back and a bullet went right by his head.

10/22/11 A resident in the 8000 block of N. Tippecanoe Dr. in Walkerton reported a lost license plate.

10/21/11 A resident in the 1500 block of E. 400 S. in Knox told police that someone broke into his house, garage and camper and took items.

10/21/11 A resident in the 2600 block of S. 700 E. in Knox told police that juveniles reportedly broke out the windows of a vacant trailer.

10/20/11 Police were advised that a man and woman were fighting on the second floor of the Starke County Courthouse.

10/20/11 A resident in the 6700 block of S. State Road 10 in Knox reported that a vicious dog chased her and is now under a neighbor’s porch. The caller does not know where the owner of the dog lives.

10/20/11 Several mailboxes were damaged in the 7800 block of E. 25 N. in Knox.

10/18/11 A resident in the 9800 block of E. 700 N. in Walkerton flagged down an officer to report a stolen cell phone.

10/18/11 Arie Schlundt told police that he lost his wallet at the BP gas station in Knox.

10/18/11 A resident in the 1900 block of N. 700 E. in Grovertown reported the theft of an iPod.

10/18/11 A resident in the 5100 block of S. 350 W. in North Judson reported the theft of his 2010 Honda dirt bike.

Arrests:
10/23/11 Regina Dodson, 45, of Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana.

10/21/11 Ross Allen Alvarez, 25, of Lake Station, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Accidents:
10/20/11 Shannon Hardin of Bristol, Indiana was injured when she overturned her car on State Road 10 by Range Road. She came up on a slow moving vehicle and she applied her brakes and lost control. She went off the north side of the road and the vehicle then overturned.

10/20/11 Robert Vandrunen of North Judson was not injured when he slid off the south side of the road on 400 South and into a ditch. The vehicle came to rest on the passenger’s side in the ditch.

10/22/11 Joseph Michael Garcia of Walkerton was northbound on County Road 1100 East by County Road 700 North when he left the roadway. Upon leaving the roadway, he struck a tree. He was injured in the accident.

10/22/11 Willard Hauser of Grovertown was not injured when a tire blew out on his vehicle on State Road 8 just west of County Road 800 East. When the tire blew out, this caused him to lose control and the vehicle went into the ditch on the north side of the road.

10/22/11 Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 23 and U.S. 30. According to the police report, Angela Dominiack of Walkerton was southbound on State Road 23 and she continued to cross onto U.S. 30 and didn’t see a vehicle driven by Jeremy Hower of Michigan City. Hower ended up running into Dominiack on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both drivers were injured along with Hower’s juvenile daughter. Dominiack, Hower and his daughter had incapacitating injuries.
