Knox Elementary School to Hold Parent/Teacher Conferences

For the first time in a long time, the Knox Elementary staff will hold parent/teacher conferences. Since the state mandated that all schools have 180 full days of instruction, that dropped the ability to have parent/teacher conferences during the day so they were eliminated. Superintendent A.J. Gappa said that they’re bringing them back next week.

“We worked out an agreement with the local Teacher’s Association so that we will have parent/teacher conferences, not only in the Fall this year, but also next spring, in our Elementary School,” said Mr. Gappa. “That’s where we feel they are the most needed – in the Elementary setting. The first parent/teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 18th and 19th, from 3:00-6:30 p.m. in the Elementary School.”

Mr. Gappa said that’s not the only activity happening during the conferences.

“The administration and staff in the Elementary School would like to take this opportunity, when we have parents in the building, to let them get a pretty good look at the Palmer Wing. The administration from the Elementary School, along with some staff members, are going to be hosting mini tours on the hour from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Parents will start at the multi-purpose room at the east end of the building and the Principals from the Elementary will be available for questions that they might have.”

Input from these tours is encouraged. The information will be reported back to the School Board and an Elementary Building Study Committee so a decision can be made on what to do with the aging and outdated Palmer Wing of the facility.
