Starke County Election Board Sets Absentee Voting Hours

The Starke County Election Board set absentee voting times for the November Municipal General Election yesterday. Absentee voting will be available Saturday, October 29th and Monday, October 31st through Saturday, November 5th from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Starke County Courthouse. On Thursday, November 3rd, the hours will be from 1:00-4:00 and from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
The Travel Board will start collecting votes beginning October 20th.

The Board also voted to reduce the number of workers and voting machines for the Knox City Election. Five voting machines will be programmed for use on November 8th and only 12 poll workers will work that day. That will be a savings of approximately $800 in this election. It was also decided that only seven workers will work the polls for the Hamlet Municipal Election. Those changes are for this election only.

The Board thought that with only one contested race in the Knox City Election and only a few contested races in the Town of Hamlet and North Judson, the number of poll workers could be decreased due to the limited number of races on the ballot and still keep lines moving at a steady pace. The Board hopes for a good turnout at the polls this November.
